Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu provides physical and mental fitness

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is becoming more popular, especially with women and children. It was developed and started by Carlos Gracie based on the grappling methods performed in Judo. It is a martial art form that subscribes to a philosophy of proper techniques and body leverage can overpower any opponent, regardless of the size and strength of that opponent. It involves bringing the opponent to the ground by leveraging the position of the body where the impact and power of the attack are largely reduced. This is where overpowering the opponent happens using proper techniques. The use of these techniques and body mechanics is the core of Jiu-Jitsu. The training instills courage to move outside of one’s comfort zone by helping to suppress panic and fear in a threatening situation. It also helps in making good decisions in desperate conditions. Despite the fact that Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu can be very intense, it can be extremely useful and a lot fun.
